Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
This half day workshop is aimed at external works designers seeking to incorporate sustainable drainage solutions into their schemes. Can well designed SuDS add value to a site? How should designers balance the impact of urban drainage on flood control and water quality management? What are the factors which influence the selection and design of SuDS? How should the professions work together to balance the planning, engineering, architectural and landscape requirements of a site?
This event will:
- set the broader context of water management
- cover the basic principles of sustainable drainage
- use examples to look at SuDS in practice.
It will be chaired by Richard Copas (Environment Agency and Landscape Institute Policy Committee) and there will be contributions from Liz Lake (Landscape Architect and Chair of the Landscape Design Trust) and Prof. Edmund Penning-Rowsell (Landscape Design Trust and Head of the Flood Hazard Research Centre).
