In order to reduce the gap between issues, the December/January edition of Green Places magazine will be mailed out later than usual on 22 December.

The issue celebrates LDT's 25th anniversary so CEO Jane Friend looks back over the organisation’s achievements and sets out its priorities for the next 25 years.

And 25 profiles of professionals and campaigners from the green public space sector include designer Wayne Hemingway, parks expert Alan Barber, garden designer Chris Beardshaw, Tony Burton from the Civic Society Initiative, Rob Aspland, a director of LDA Design with almost 20 years’ experience in public realm design, Andy Wistow from Sustrans, and Catharine Ward Thompson, a research professor of landscape architecture at the University of Edinburgh.

Also featured:
• Alan Barber provides an analysis of the government’s new climate change publications.
• Chris Baines reports from the 4th Assises of European Landscape which took place in Strasbourg recently.
• The first in a new series of local authority profiles showcases Westminster Council’s spaces projects.
• An overview of the Chilterns Awards, the Chilterns Conservation Board’s scheme to recognise good work in conservation. The imaginative management of a range of public spaces celebrated by this year’s award winners shows conservation is not just about wardens and designated reserves.
